The Temiskaming series, which occurs at Cobalt and Porcupine, was not recog-nized in the area shown on the accompanying map, but rocks belonging to this serieswere observed in Midlothian township, 18 miles northwest of Gowganda lake, by JamesG. MacMillan.* The oldest rocks comprise essentially the greenstones and green schists of theKeewatin. They show evidence of being largely altered basic igneous rocks. Thesehave been much intruded by light-colored or acid dikes, which have also been muchmetamorphosed, and now show as bands in the darker rocks. In
