The red, yellow and blue "war paints" have a lot to do with the nivel of aggressiveness and the status within the hierarchy, in fact, only males have them as adults. Scientists think that along the way of evolution, the Mandrills (Mandrillus sphinx) looked for a place to live with fewer competitors, and that is why they stayed on the ground instead of the trees.
