A Caucasian nielloed silver shashqa, dated 1897. Slightly curved single-edged blade with double fullers on each side, a double-edged point, and remnants of decorative etching at the forte. Silver grip (gilding renewed) chased and nielloed with floral designs, and with silver hallmarks on the lower reverse side. Replacement velvet-covered wooden scabbard with silver mountings chased and nielloed en suite. The maker's signature and year "1315" (= 1897) nielloed on the reverse side of the locket.
