The platform railing, which extends asfar as the pair of sliding doors in the bulkheads, givesseparate 21-in. passages for incoming and outgoing pas-sengers. It will be seen that ample space has been pro-vided for free movement despite the presence of two stair-. The following particulars describe the cars asactually constructed. SINGLE-TRUCK DROP-PLATFORM CAR The most interesting feature of the single-truck drop-platform car is the use of a double staircase on each plat- ways, and this was made possible by the use of platforms7 ft. 6 in. long. On both decks the width of the aisle be-tween cross seats is 1 ft. 6 in. and the clear width of thecross seat is 2 ft. 7 in. Clearances of 13 in. and 14 provided alternately between the transverse seats onthe lower deck and of 13 in. on the upper deck.
