STOMACH 179 Their constancy is the best evidence. In the late stages, if extensive, they may cause obstruction and be mistaken for mahgnancy. The stomach after gastro-enterostomy is usually smaller andhigher. It empties rapidly, depending somewhat upon the size ofthe stoma. There is little peristalsis visible. When seen it usuallypasses over the entire lower part of the stomach to the pylorus, forcing the barium mixture through unless it has been closed at.
