The repairing of automobiL parts with the oxy-acctylene blow-pipe has become so common that it is not unusual to jack up anauto side frame and weld it zihUe you zvail. The portable apparatus by which these welds were made sshown in one of the illustrations and is manufactured by theOxy-Carbi Company of New Haven, Conn. An important feat-ure of the apparatus is the ujc of double purifiers for generatingoxygen, thus insuring a high quality of gas. The double gaugearrangement makes it possibl; to determine at any time whethereither retort has exhausted its oxygen, and eliminates unneces-sary waste of gas by overheating the retorts. Special allovneedle valves retain the gas in the storage tank when not much oxygen is used for cutting the retorts may be usedalternately with very satisfactory results. The acetylene generator is entirely automatic
