A rare German wartime bomber the Dornier Do-17 was discovered on the Goodwin Sands, seventy years after it was shot down during the height of the Battle of Britain. Shot down on 26th August 1940, the Dornier's historical importance is immense: this is the world's only surviving Do-17, a German aircraft type that played a crucial role in the Battle. Cosford air museum have taken on the task of preserving the bomber, at the time these images were taken the majority of the aircraft was under humid conditions in two polythene tunnels as water was spayed on it constantly, to clean and preserve it.
