This point alone is no small itemin favor of the new system, and when it is remembered that nocinders can come in through the fixed deck sash, It seems evi-dent that the concomitant advantages of the methods adoptedin this system are not inconsiderable. The experimental work having led up to the constructionabove described, it remained to test the system and see whatresults it would give. The first tests were made to demon-strate whether the air currents would flow in the direction de-sired when the car is standing still. It is well known that someventilating systems depend for the proper movement of theventilating air currents on the movement of the car itself
