In 1777 that portionof Westmoreland lying along the river north and west ofa line run * directly to Washingtons mill on RosiersCreek and down the said creek to Potomack Riverwas contributed to the new county of King George. Prince William County was erected in the year 1730,3rd and 4th of George II. The process was thedivision of Stafford, and all of the river north of Chapa-womsic Creek was given to the new county.
