The 340ft Sendall Tunnel, opened in 1895, connects St George's seafront Esplanade with the Carenage inner harbour. It was started in 1889 and named in commemoration of governor, Sir Walter Sendall. A view from Bruce Street toward s the Carenage harbour front.
