Ultrasound scan of a foetus at 14 weeks. The foetus develops from the embryo, with the dividing line at around nine weeks. By week 14 (just over a third of the way through the pregnancy) the foetus measures a few centimetres in length. During the fourteenth week of development, the kidneys are producing urine, the liver is functioning, and a fuzz of thin body hair is developing.
