George Scatchard (1892-1973, American chemist and biochemist. Scratchard is best known for his work on the ligand-receptor interactions. The Scatchard equation calculates the affinity constant of a ligand and receptor, while a Scatchard plot shows the concentrations of bound and unbound ligands against bound ligand concentration. He also developed the concept of the excess function, which is the difference between the actual and the ideal mixing properties of a solution under the same conditions.
