Diagnosis.—A microhylid with the tympanum concealed, clavicles and procoracoids present but short and curved, posterior portion of the prevomer absent, palatine bones absent, and snout very pointed. The presence of clavicles and procoracoids separates Elachistocleis ovalis from species in the genera Ctenophryne and Glossostoma, while the concealed tympanum and the fact that the clavicles and pro- coracoids are short and strongly curved separate it from species of Otophryne.
