CalMac ferries Lord of the Isles (right) and Isle of Mull (left) pass each other in Oban Bay

The town of Oban in the West Highlands of Scotland provides a major gateway to the Western Isles. Here the Isle of Mull is arriving in Oban Bay from Craignure on Mull while Lord of the Isles is leaving for the Western Islands such as Coll, Tiree, Barra and/or South Uist. The island of Kerrera can be seen in the obelisk in the centre is in memory of David Hutcheson, who founded the West Highland Steamer Services.
