The Ide Engine is of the same class with all the enginesdescribed in the preceding section—a high-speed engine,intended to be driven up to high power and to occupysmall compass; to regulate with all the accuracy desired in ELECTRIC LIGHTING PLANTS. 149 electric lighting, and in the spinning of fine cotton; to havegood wearing qualities, and to be economical in its use ofsteam and of fuel.
