An important presentation sabre supplied to the imperial Russian court Zlatoust, circa 1816/1820. Ascribed to Master Wilhelm Nikolaus Schaaf. High-quality, curved and fullered single-edged blade with yelmen. On the back of the blade the etched and gilt Cyrillic maker's inscription "Zlatoust" and floral decoration. Blued and profusely etched on both sides. The lower half of blade etched with oak and laurel leaves on damascened ground.
