General Motors displays Chevrolet Equinox Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles at NY City Hall on Thursday May 7 2009 The cars which use hydrogen gas as power convert hydrogen and oxygen into water producing electricity to power the vehicle as part of the process Unlike batteries which can go dead electricity is available as long as the tank can be filled with hydrogen The cars are zero emission producing only water at a physical by product Only 100 of the vehicles have been made so far with a cost of 250 000 each although General Motors hopes to have that down to 25 000 once they can be put into mass production The hydrogen fuel cells have to be supported with a re fueling infrastructure which currently is not in place Richard B Levine
