Pali River banks, like Fall River cotton mills, have usually hadmen of the staunchest rectitude in their control and from the date of the charter of the first bank (which wasprobably the Fall River Institution of Savings, in 1828, nowknown as the Fall River Savings Bank) to the present date, therehas been no bank failure, nor irregularity of bank officials. Fall River therefore has four National banks to wit, the FallRiver National, the First National, the Metacomet National, andthe Massasoit-Pocasset National with a combined yearly clear-ing for 1908 of $50,797,, and 1909 of 61,927, again in 1909 over the previous year of $11,130, In the four Savings banks there are 50,000 depositors with de-posits approximating twenty millions of dollars.
