Summer.—This is a very valuable variety, not only for the market gardener, but also the private grower, as its heading season is between the Jersey "Wakefield and Efirly Drumhead, producing heads of double the size of the former and almost equal to the latter, frequently weighing from 12 to 20 pounds each; of round-flattened form, very compact, solid, and of excellent quality, its .eaves turn into the heads almost as soon as lormed, which permits of close planting— >bout nine hundred plants to the acre. Buist's Early Drumhead.—This popu- lar variety follows the Early Summer in heading and is one of the most valuable varieties grown, it is ready for marketing two to three weeks earlier than the Late Drum- head, forms large solid rounded heads weighing on an average from fifteen to twenty five pounds each; as a market variety it is really indispensable, especially for the South as it withstands the heat remarkably well.
