J., with the Milfordcolonists in 1666, and his name stands second on the listof subscribers to the Fundamental Agreement. On hismothers side Mr. Lum also comes from stanch Eevolution-ary stock. His great-grandfather, Jonathan Chandler, bornMay 23, 1762, was a drummer boy in the i^atriot army, wascaptured by the British, but was released on account of hisyouth after spending some time in prison in New York, andimmediately rejoined the army, in which he performed goodservice. Through his great-grandmother, Patience Pierson, is descended from Eev. Abraham Pierson, the firstpastor and so-called founder of Newark.
