At Bergen-Belsen concentration camp 60 tables were set up to wash and delouse the sick survivors. Each was staffed by two medics and two nurses (all German). The photo is dated 1st May 1945, two weeks after the camp's liberation. The camp's position in the west of Germany meant that thousands of people were sent there as the east fell. 18000 people died in March 1945 alone, and 10000 died in the two weeks after liberation. They died of disease and neglect rather than the systematic abuse seen elsewhere.
