Itis a veritable lion here, and the rugged,rock-bound coast seems to be a neces-sary bulwark to stay the fury of theelements. The very temperature ofthe water, and the fresh, bracing vigorof the winds, suggest a strength andmajesty which is sometimes trying tohuman constitutions which lack vital-ity. But though a lion when roused,this northern sea has a nobleness ofdisposition which makes you forget itscruelty on the very morrow after it hasstrewn the beach with salvage, anddashed in gorgeous spray well-nigh upto your chambe
