Es Castell, Menorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. St. Philip's Castle (Castillo de San Felipe) or Fort St. Philip. Fortress bult in the middle of the 16th century at the entrance to the port of Mahón (Maó), following the design of the Italian engineer Giovanni Batista Calvi. It was built to protect the island from the attacks of the Turkish fleet in Western Mediterranean. Detail of the ruins.
