If possible, the garden should be located ina sunny position with a slight slope to thesouth or southeast, and a windbreak of somesort on the north will be advantageous. Itshould be free of stumps and stones, and thesoil should be a deep, rich, sandy loam, welldrained, either naturally or artificially; but asfew of us can have everything exactly
