History—Conference organized at Kennebunk, Maine, January2, 1844. Among the principal movers to eflect theorganization were Mark Fernald, John Boothby, Bryant, Geo. M. Payne, S. P. Binkford, DanielWiggin, and Isaiah Haley. A missionary society igconnected with the conference, with a charter fromthe legislature, holding funds the interest of which,with annual donations, is used yearly for home andforeign mission interests. 1C8 have been added to themembership of the conference the past year. DavidMoulton, a layman aged 78, has been secretary andtreasurer of the conference for 34 years, and has takenthe Herald of Gospel Liberty 56 years.
