To remove stains from table linen hold upthe soiled spot and pour through it boiling hotwater. Use kerosene, or bath-brick, or powderedlime, to scour iron, tin, or copper; wash in hotsuds, and polish with dry whiting. To remove spots from furniture, take fourounces of vinegar, two ounces of sweet oil, oneounce of turpentine. and apply with aflannel cloth. Spirits of ammonia diluted with water, ifapplied with a sponge or flannel to discoloredspots of the carpets or garments, will oftenrestore the color. To clean oil-cloth, wash with warm in months scour with hot soapsuds,dry thoroughly, and apply a coat of varnish. Itwill last as long again. Soot falling on the carpet from opc-n chim
