A studded wooden door under a commemorative plaque for the reconstruction of the Ponte Vecchio after the flood of 1333, Florence, Tuscany, Italy

On the Ponte Vecchio, under the arches of the Vasari Corridor, a 14th century plaque recalls the collapse and reconstruction of the bridge. To the left of the Latin text is an idol on a pedestal, which is also referred to in the text, but whose presence is not entirely clear. Translation of the Latin text: "On 4 November 1333 this bridge collapsed for the whirlwind of many waters; then in 1345 it was rebuilt more beautiful and adornment. This child shows briefly what was achieved". The wooden door, shaped by a pointed arch, is one of the six that originally allowed access to the crenellated galleries of the bridge.
