The Peace Palace, Carnegieplein and International Court of Justice (ICJ), The Hague, The Netherlands. Thursday 11 January, 2024. South Africa presented its case against the state of Israel during its three-hour session at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague this morning. Israel's plan to "destroy" Gaza comes from "the highest level of state", the UN's top court has heard. South Africa also called on the (ICJ) to order Israel to cease all military action immediately. South African lawyers accused Israel of genocide. Israel, will have its day at the (ICJ) to state its defence on Friday, day 2. Israel has vehemently rejected the accusations as "baseless" and Anti-Semitic. In Gaza, more than 23,350 people – mostly women and children have been killed and tens-of-thousands injured.
