The ara macao is one of the species of parrots found in Panama, Central America, and is among the endangered species that are illegally traded from this region. It is protected by law. It is multicolored and has small red feather on its face, that are characteristic of the species. The Scarlet Macaw (Ara macao) is a large, colourful parrot. It is native to humid evergreen forests in the American tropics, from extreme eastern Mexico locally to Amazonian Peru and Brazil, in lowlands up to 500 meters (at least formerly up to 1000m).
