Abbey St. Florent les Saumur

The Abbey of St. Florent Les Saumur was where Joan of Arc went to visit the Duchess of d'Alencon, the daughter of the Duke of Orleans. She promised the duchess to free her father who was a prisoner of the English. The majority of the abbey structures, as shown in this illustration from around the 1700s, date to the 11th through 13th centuries. The church was known as the Belle d'Anjou.
