The father was47 and the mother 37 at the time of his birth. The father was a mostsuccessful merchant; the mother was a gracious, charming, cultivatedwoman, and a very accomplished musician. The mother had one mis-carriage before the birth of this child. She was much worried duringpregnancy over her mother, who was ill. Tracheotomy was performedon this child; and he was much frightened; later had chorea. Themother has an insane cousin, and another feeble-minded. This boy is PLATE XXI. Case A. Case B. Case C.
