There appears to be nothing special recorded in the habits ofthe species, which differs from the facts already mentionedunder the heading of its allies. IV. LONG-TAILED BANDICOOT. In common with the whole of the remaining members ofthe genus, this species differs from the preceding group in thefollowing points: Centre of sole of hind foot in the adultnaked nearly, or quite, to the heel. Ear short, so that whenlaid forwards, it falls short of, or barely reaches, the eye, its tipbeing rounded instead of pointed. Characters—Size small; form light and slender; fur close,coarse, and rough, but not spiny. General colour dull greyish-brown, the thinner hairs tipped with dull yellow or grey ; chingreyish-brown; under-parts, as well as inner sides of limbs,white or yellowish. Ears rounded, rather small, and broad,not reaching the eyes when laid forwards. Fore feet withbrown hair, but the fingers naked ; backs of hind feet white ;their soles wholly naked, finely granuated, with small rudi-mental pads at the bases of the toes. T
