West window, South side, Third section from top. Holy Trinity Church, Casterton, Cumbria, England, United Kingdom, Europe.

Church built in 1831-3 and paid for by the Rev. William Carus Wilson. The two West Windows, by Henry Holiday, depict the Creation. Wording on the top section of the West, South side window reads:- "AND GOD SAID Let there be LIGHT and there was LIGHT. The EVENING & the MORNING WERE the FIRST DAY". The wording on the second section from the top reads:- "O ye Nights Days, Bless ye the LORD, Praise Him and Magnify Him for ever". The third section from the top reads:- "AND GOD SAID Let there be a Firmament in the midst of the Waters. The EVENING & the MORNING WERE the SECOND DAY". The fourth section from the top reads:- "O all ye Winds of GOD, Bless ye the LORD, Praise HIM and magnify HIM for ever". The fifth section from the top reads:- "AND GOD SAID Let the Waters be gathered together and let dry land appear. The EVENING & the MORNING WERE the THIRD DAY". The bottom section of the window reads:- "O ye Green Things of the Earth, O ye Showers and Dew, O ye Wells, Bless ye the LORD, Praise HIM ans magnify HIM for ever". These designs for the West windows in Casterton Church were first used in Grace Church, Utica, USA and also in the West windows of Southwark Cathedral, London.
