The Gower Memorial - Hamlet Statue in Stratford upon Avon England


This collection of Shakespeare statues is The Gower Memorial. It was given to Stratford in 1888. It is the work of Lord Ronald Gower who spent over 10 years on it. It used to be outside the old theatre, but when it burned down in 1926 it was moved to it's present site in 1933. The group of statues is in Bancroft Gardens in Stratford. a statue of Shakespeare's Hamlet nearby the River Avon (in front of the Shakespeare statue behind it) The area is back to normal now. Hamlet represents Philosophy with ivy and cypress.
