Instances are common wherein small amounts ofpower are required for outlying points which cannot befurnished by the constant current system because of thegreat distance from the central power plant. In casesof this kind this combination system would meet therequirements by supplying the outlying points withalternating current. O. The conditions are suchthat the machine may be used not onlyby committees of the Master Car Build-ers Assocation, but also by individualrailway companies and manufacturersas well.
