Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) scan. Shown are the reconstructed white matter fibres of the fornix, a pathway that helps set the tone of our remembered world. DTI offers a non-invasive look into how white matter, the highways of our brain, connect distant brain regions. Each fibre shown represent many thousands of actual fibres in the human brain. Colours are coded as; left to right - red, anterior to posterior - green, and superior to inferior - blue.
