The Abbey of the Dormition ("Falling Asleep" of the Virgin) is a German Benedictine abbey and church, that was built over the traditional site of the Virgin's home and death. The abbey was designed by Heinrich Renard in neo-Romanesque style and was consecrated in 1908. It has a blue conical roof, four ornamental turrets and a clock tower. Not far is the site traditionally believed to be King David's Tomb. It is a sacred place for Jews, Christians and Muslims. The structure dates to the Crusader period. On the ground level are to sacred tomb and several Jewish synagogues. On the second level of the structure is the location of the "Last Supper". On the third level there is a Muslim Muezzin minaret from the Mamluk period (15th century).
