CONGO, 27th Sept 2012: An ecoguard finds wire used for animal traps at an illegal hunting camp. No animal hunting is allowed in this area in the heart of the Tridom. The Tridom project area is within the world's second-largest rainforest, the Western Congo Basin Moist Forest in Central Africa. This region, one of the richest eco-regions in Africa in terms of biodiversity, faces increasingly severe threats from commercial logging and mining. The area is also a target for large-scale commercial hunting of wild meat and ivory, which often uses logging concession access roads.
