A wheellock rifle,Johann Balthasar Zellner in Salzburg circa 1700. Octagonal,slightly swamped barrel with smooth bore in 17 mm calibre,with signature and brass-lined mark on top,folding rear sight and dovetailed front sight(later fitted with a flourescent dot). Sparsely engraved lockplate,inscribed "BZ" next to the cock. Wheel-cover,cock and main spring are finely engraved. Doubel set trigger. Slightly carved walnut stock with horn nose,wooden ramrod with horn tip. Stock slightly reworked,set trigger defective,one screw of the lock is a replacement.
