VAGSOY, NORWAY - 27 December 1941 - British naval commandos (of 2 Commando or 3 Commando or possibly 4 Commando) in action during Operation Archery, also known as the Måløy Raid, a British Combined Operations raid during World War II against German positions on the island of Vågsøy, Norway. The operation was successful in achieving it's dual roles of obtaining a copy of the German Navy code book and destroying fish oil production. It also led to Hitler deploying 30,000 extra troops to Norway, causing more pressure on the Russian Front - Photo: Geopix
