Inside Palamidi castle in Nafplio city


Nafplio was the first capital of modern Greece, from 1829 to 1834. It is now the capital of the prefecture of Argolis (Argolida) and the province of Nafplion in Peloponnese, Greece. It is situated on the Argolic Gulf. Nafplion is one of the most popular weekend destinations from Athens but also from other Peloponnese cities. It is famous for the it's military fortress called Palamidi. It is now open as a museum and it offers the most amazing view to the city and its famous Mpourtzi island (or Bourtzi island) Mpourtzi island is is located in the middle of the harbor of Nafplio and is was built by the Venetians to protect the city from pirates and invaders.
