Quaintexamples may be found in oldEnglish towns, the finest per-haps in Somerset, where theyare always worth noting. The old inn lamp brackets, frequentlydoubled are usually more modern, we give an example from Strat-ford (Fig. 133). There are good examples at the Red Lion and WhiteHart, Salisbury, the Portobello at Kingsdown in Kent, the NevilleArms at Audley End, and so on. Eight designs in the Chippendaleand the French manners for lanthorn irons were published byW. & J. WeUdon, smiths, in 1765.
