A steam train has left Southend on Sea early in the morning heading to Bristol Temple Meads, passing alongside the flat calm Thames Estuary at Chalkwell. The Railway Touring Company organised special train is being hauled by ex-British Rail steam locomotive LMS Jubilee Class 45690 Leander. Leander is one of a number of steam locomotives cleared to run on mainlines for special trips and was built in 1936. It was renumbered 45690 by British Railways in 1948 following nationalisation.
