Isshin-ji Temple in the centre of Osaka is referred to by locals as "The Commons People's Temple" was founded in 1185. The followers belong to the Jodo-shu (Pure Land) Buddhist sect. The temple is most famous for the statue of Buddha which is made from the ashes of 200,000 deceased consenting worshippers.
