British Airways i360 observation tower, built on the landward end of the old West Pier in Brighton and billed as the world's thinnest tower, opened today at 14:00. All 'flights' on the opening day were fully booked, however delays of 40-60 minutes were being experienced on evening flights. The fireworks scheduled for 22:00 were also cancelled due to the barge, upon which the fireworks would've been launched, was unable to safely operate due to high winds and a storm off the coast. One of the reconstructed West Pier tollbooths can be seen.
