Five of the children of herunion with Mr. Morrow survive, as well as sixgrandchildren and six great-grandchildren. John W. Morrow obtained his early educa-tion in the public schools. He worked as anoil well driller and taught school for severalterms to secure the means to attend DaytonAcademy, one at Perrys%ille, Jeffereon county,one in South Mahoning to\\-nship, Indianacounty, and two in Armstrong township, this. For two years he read medicine withDr. Christopher McEwen, of Plumville, andin 1871 entered Jefferson Medical College,from which he was graduated March 11, had returned to Indiana after hisfirst term there and practiced for eighteenmonths at Marchand, going back to schoolSept. 8, 1873. After graduation he returnedto Marchand, where he has since practicedwith the exception of his periods of service inthe Pennsylvania Legislature. He is a Republican and in 1890 was nomi-nated and elected as the candidate of hisparty, for the Legislature, by a majority ofnine hundred over his closest competitor. Heserved in the session of 1891, and again in1897, having been reelected in 1896. Duringhis last term, in 1897, he was elected chairmanof the committee on Public Health and Sani-tation.
