Like that, it is eight rowed and resembles it generally, only tbat the ears are about two inches longer. It is quite early and is very popular in the Connecticut Valley, where it was first culti- vated. Bush. , on the ear (70 lbs.) LONGFELLOW. An eight-rowed yellow flint sort, with ears ten to twelve inches long. The cob is quite small, with kernels of good size. Considered safe for planting in Massachusetts. Bush , on the ear, (70 lbs.) SANFORD WHITE. A white flint variety, used in Rhode Island considerably for grinding, both for stock and culinary purposes, and very extensively used in Vermont for ensilage. Bush PRIDE OF THE NORTH. A Dent variety which is very early. Will mature a crop in this section easily unless season is very unfavorable. Ears are rather small for a Dent variety, from eight to nine inches long, having from twelve to sixteen rows. Stalks are from six to eight feet high. Popular as an ensilage corn with some. Bush. ,2 Bush. EARLY MASTODON DENT. A very early, strong growing corn, with exceedingly large ears and grain. In the American Agriculturalist corn contest, in 188U, it out yielded all others, making the wonderful record of 213 bushels of shelled corn to the acre. Used extensively for ensilage.
