An old portrait of Jimmy Wilde, British Flyweight Boxing Champion of the World. ---- William James Wilde (1892 –1969) was a Welsh professional boxer who competed from 1911 to 1923. Titles included 1916 IBU world flyweight title; EBU European flyweight title (twice) 1914/16/17 ; BBB of C British flyweight title in 1916 and National Sporting Club’s British flyweight title from 1916 to 1918. He was regarded by some as the greatest British fighter of all time because he could beat bantamweights and featherweights, and has the longest recorded unbeaten streak in boxing history.
