Proboscis rather small; pal}Di obliquely upturned, the 2nd joint reaching about to vertex of head and ratlier broadly scaled in front and behind, the 3rd fihort; frons smooth, with tuIt of hair above ; eyes large, round ; antenna; of male ciliated, the basal joint with tuft of hair in front; thorax clothed with scales and hair mixed, the prothorax with crest, the metathorax with very long crest projecting backwards; fore tibia; fringed with hair on outer side, the mid tibia; moderately frmged with hair, the hind tibia; smoothly scaled ; abdomen with dorsal crests on basal segments. Fore wing with tiie apex rounded, the termen excised above tornus where there is a scale-tooth, not crenulate ; veins 3 and 5 from near angle of cell; 6 from upper angle ; 9 from 10 anastomosing with 8 to form a long narrow areole; 11 from cell. Hind wing with vein 3 from just before angle of cell ; 4, 5 from angle ; 6, 7 from upper angle ; 8 anastomosing with the cell near base only. 6766. Gryposoba catagrapha.
