Luna Park, viewed here at the junction of Lavalle and Bouchard Avenues, is an 8000 seat stadium, built in 1932. It is used for sporting events such as boxing, basketball, tennis and volleyball. It is particularly associated with several important basketball competitions: the First World Basketball (FIBA World) Championship in 1950; the Pan American Games Men's Basketball Tournament in 1951; the 1976 Basketball Intercontinental Cup; and the 1990 Basketball World Championship.
